Meet Me In Montana...

by Matt Fisher
NRA Recruiting Programs Assistant

The Manhattan Wildlife Association was founded sometime during the 1930's by several Montana outdoors and shooting enthusiasts.  Since then the club has gone through many changes and is now principally an association for shooters, although it maintains interest in all areas related to firearms ownership and wildlife conservation.  With a membership base of some 800 members, the Manhattan Wildlife Association found it beneficial to adopt a 100% NRA membership policy for insurance purposes.

(New members of the club are automatically enrolled into the NRA when they fill out their Manhattan Wildlife Association application.)  For renewing members, the Manhattan Wildlife Association includes an NRA membership renewal application along with their club's re-newal notice.  To ensure that the current club members are also NRA members, the club occasionally requests that members provide proof of current NRA membership. (Magazine labels are great for this!)

By requiring 100% NRA membership from its approximately 800 members, the club generates a substantial income through renewal commission alone.  Remember, NRA Recruiters make up to five dollars commission per renewal.  This revenue helps to maintain such club facilities as their 2000 square foot clubhouse, extensive skeet and trap range, and 400 yard rifle range.

The only way to preserve our existing rights at the national level is through involvement with the most effective gun rights organization in the world: the NRA.  Why not help your club generate extra revenue and improve the political situation for gun owners.  The Manhattan Wildlife Association certainly has.

The above article could perhaps be the Savannah River Rifle & Pistol Club if we had 100% NRA membership.  This comment is entirely editorial in nature and only the opinion of the Web-Editor.  Think About It!!
