OCT. 9 SRRPC SMALLBORE RIFLE SILHOUETTE MATCH RESULTS
We had Seven shooters turn out; eight is a full line in one relay. I have not seen that in years. There was only had one non club member attending. Welcome all three new to the sport.

We enjoyed above normal temperature, but nice weather. Wind not a factor.
Sight in targets were elevated to ensure all rounds fired impacted the berms. New steel backer plates for the swingers were in service, knocking down all projectiles fired at the swingers.
One new shooter used an extra rifle I had brought along, to good effect considering it was RH and he was not. My first results demonstrate what happens if the guy running things has not fired a shot for a month, and did not check all his set up prior to match day. Note that this also can happen to anyone who commits the same offense against the range gods.
Mical Bowling won it all, shooting Master scores in each match. I pointed out to all present that Mical had started out a B class shooter; I know, because I presented him B class winning trophies in his start up period.
Thanks to all who attended and assisted in setting up and taking down.
Mical Bowling of MCRC will run the November 13 match, as I have a draw (deer) hunt at SRS that morning. SRRPC member Teresa Spires or Anthony Ribando will take care of opening the building (I don't know who will get there first).
Parting Shot: A Carry Permit not backed up with pistol practice is just another piece of paper for the police to sort through after you are gone, unless the bad guys take it along with your money, your firearm, and perhaps even your life.
Practice with discipline. Shoot safely.

O'Conner U Withdrew, equipment problems
We enjoyed beautiful HOT weather.
Sight in targets were elevated to ensure all rounds fired impact the berms. I
have gone out for fabrication of backer plates for the swingers; they will be in
service at the next match, paid for out of SBR match fees.
Message to all: Given the turnout for these matches over the last three
seasons, I will submit the schedule for 2011 to the NRA in October, but reserve
the right to cancel matches in the event of low attendance. The same two people
doing most of the set up and tear down, and the lack of participation overall is
demoralizing.
I need a regular reliable set of interested shooters to divide the work into
more manageable bits. Also, twice a year when I have charity work that
conflicts with match dates, I can attend to THAT and not two or three
shooters. Anyone wishing to get more involved, or to run these or other Rifle
matches, speak up and step up.
A Range is a terrible thing to waste. Shoot safely and often.
Rex
