Hello,
I am a very grateful new member to the club. I haven't made my first trip out there yet, but I hope to do so Monday. I enjoy shooting my black powder cap and ball revolvers (.36 and .44 cal) and Black powder rifles, I have two traditional sidelocks and one modern inline. I also shoot modern weapons too. Which brings me to a few questions that I want to clear up so I don't violate any rules or damage any targets. Can I shoot the steel targets at the pistol range with the revolvers? 2.) Are my B.P. rifles only allowed on the left pistol range and rifle range? 3.) Can I shoot the steel targets with the B.P. rifles at the rifle range? I know the rules stated no shotgun slugs and these rifles throw a pretty large lead ball. And Can one shoot the 100yrd steel target at the rifle range with a 5.56 /.223. The rules state nothing in excess of 3,250fps. I've read the rules over and over and I still come back with these question. I greatly appreciate the opporitunity to be a member at SRRPC and hope to meet more of you soon.
Take Care,

Fellow Members,
Have you ever had a weekend where you planned to go to the range for some quality time but the weather or other factors didnt cooperate? Have I got a solution to that problem.

GLUBITTS ! ! ! !

What are "glubitts"? , you ask. pistol caliber bullets made from, of all things, hot glue., yes, the same stuff that you get all over everthing when you glue things together (dont ask me how I know that).

They are made using standard bullet molds for whatever pistol/caliber you are using. Simply coat the mold cavity with any form of light cooking oil, close the mold, and inject the hot glue into it, making sure of a generous sprue. Allow it to cool completely, can be as long a 10 minutes, depending on the size of the glubitt. Once cured or hardened, cut the sprue as you would if you were casting with lead and open the mold. If there is some flashing around the base, trim it with a utility knife. The glubitt is ready for use. Make at least a dozen or so cause you will use them. One word of caution, Glubitts use only primer for propellant so they will not cycle the action of a semi auto.

Take several cases for your selected round, drive out the primers and set new primers. I use a 380 ACP and deprime with a 45ACP die. You do NOT want to size the case, simply deprime it. I use a Lee hand held primer tool to reprime.

DO NOT USE ANY POWDER AT ALL ! ! !

Oil each bullet with a light coat of the same oil you used for the mold and gently slip it into the case. Depth of seating and cartridge overall length are not critical. It is only necessary for the glubitt to be in the case. Your glubits are now ready to fire.

For a backstop, find a reasonable size cardboard box and a plastic or wooden coat hanger. I use plastic ones. Cut the straight rod from the hanger, take an old towel (Guys, trust me on this, make sure its old. She wont like it if its not), slip the hanger rod through the box and hang the towel over it so that it hangs inside the box. This is your backstop/target holder. Tape your target to the outside of the box, and fire away. The glubitss will hit the towel inside of the box and either tangle in the cloth or drop to bottom of the box. They are reusable. I have some that I have fired as many as 6 times already and they are still good to use. Your firearm will not be damaged by using these and clean up is not much more than a brass brush and a patch or two.

CAUTION

These glubitts are low velocity projectiles but they can hurt you or damage your home. Usual safe gun handling is to be oberved at all times.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions about making or using glubitts
