Six
shooters took on the clouds, wind and rain. Mical Bowling showed what practice
and coaching (?) can do, convincingly winning both matches.
Congratulations to Mical for shooting his first AAA score in Hunting
Rifle, and getting the five in a row pins he lacked for rams and chickens.
Jethro
Curry showed up to control the HVAC for us, but did not turn down the fan speed
very well. This month, he shot a
rifle with optics instead of iron sights, and posted a pair of 19s.
I
managed to demonstrate that superficial cleaning of ones bolt assembly is
inadequate, as my Model 54 failed to strike hard enough several times to
detonate the cartridge in the first match. Though
it always fired on the second hit, that distraction was enough to take my head
out of it and hold my score where it landed.
I did fire my first in-class score of the year in hunting rifle
with my CZ.
Thanks
to all participants who showed up and assisted as able in set up, paperwork, and
break down. The fellowship was
great, it was a safe match, and we all hope to see more competitors in the
future. Of course, as soon as
everything was put away, the rain was over and the sun came out.
Only
more SRRPC shooters to fill up the line would have made the day more enjoyable.
Here’s
hoping for a better weather forecast for the MCRC SBR silhouette match next
Saturday. Their re-graded range
turned out real nice, and they host a good match.
Practice begins at 11:00, silhouette match starts at 12:00.
Shoot
safely.
