Application for membership requires sponsorship by an active member. Approval and continuation is subject to the limitations specified in the SRRPC bylaws.

 

Annual dues for a family membership are $100, due January 1 of each year. New family memberships are available at the cost shown below:

January through March $100  

April $90   May $80   June $70   July $60   August $50   Sept. $40  

October $30   November $20   December $10  

Nov and/or Dec plus all of next year $100

Current Certified law enforcement officers, in the employment of federal, local or state government and serving in South Carolina, pay one-half rate.  

Membership in this club gives you permission to use the shooting facilities at our outdoor range in accordance with the General Range Rules.

 

Please review and initial each of the following current General Range Rules to indicate that you understand and agree to abide by each rule.

General Range Rules

(Adopted 01/23/2011)

 

  1.  In case of a medical emergency, call 911. To report an accident or damage, call 803-295-1700.

  2.  Alcoholic beverages/illegal drugs are not allowed on club property. Persons under the influence of these items will not be allowed on the property and will be removed from the facilities at which time they will be expelled from the club as provided in the club bylaws.

  3.  Eye and hearing protection shall be worn whenever shooting is in progress. This applies to both shooters and non-shooters.

  4.  All bullets that are not stopped by a target must directly hit and stop in the berm (dirt backstop). Bullets must NOT hit the flat ground. “Bullet” includes any projectile or shot larger than #7-1/2. Always place targets and fire in such a manner that the bullet will impact between the base of the berm and half-way up the berm unless APPROVED backstops are used. Do NOT fire in such a manner that bullets might ricochet off your target, anything beyond your target, or the ground. Do NOT shoot at targets resting on the flat ground. Do NOT shoot at targets NEAR the flat ground.

  5.  An adult member shall accompany and be responsible for any children under the age of 18.

  6.  Members are responsible for the actions of their guests.

  7.  If more than one shooter is at a range or pistol bay, one member will be designated as the Range Officer (RO) and will control the firing line. The firing line will be called either HOT or COLD by the Range Officer ONLY. In the interest of safety, ANYONE may call “CEASE FIRE”.

    1.  Upon hearing the command “CEASE FIRE, you must immediately do the following:

      1.  Cease fire.

      2.  Await further instructions from the Range Officer.

      3.  When directed by the Range Officer, unload, clear and lock your weapon in the SAFE position or re-holster it.

      4.  When directed by the Range Officer, lay your weapon down on your bench or mat or re-holster it.

      5.  Raise your hand into the air and signal the “thumbs-up” sign that you have complied with the first three steps.

    2.  No one is allowed down range until the RO has called a cease-fire, and announced that the “RANGE IS COLD. At this time, the RO will announce that everyone may proceed down range to examine or exchange targets as needed.

    3.  No weapons may be carried down range except securely holstered pistols or revolvers. If any weapons are left at or behind the firing line when shooters are downrange, all firearms will be empty, with all breeches, bolts, slides, and cylinders in the open position exposing an empty chamber..

    4.  No weapons shall be handled or unholstered until authorized by the Range Officer.

    5.  When more than one person is on the line, only STRONG SIDE holsters may be used.

  8. Permitted Weapons:

    1.  Handguns using standard handgun ammunition and RIMFIRE rifles only may be used on the right-hand pistol range.

    2.  Centerfire rifles are permitted on the left pistol range, but shall NOT be used on steel targets.

    3.  Magnum cartridges shall not be used on steel targets on the pistol ranges.

    4. Steel targets shall not be shot with steel core ammunition, shotgun slugs, or any ammunition having a muzzle velocity greater than 3250 fps.

    5. Shotguns may be used on the Left pistol range with fixed targets positioned so that all pellets will strike the berm (#7-1/2 shot or smaller may be permitted to strike the flat ground). Airborne targets (e.g., thrown clays) are NOT permitted on the pistol ranges..

    6.  No armor piercing, explosive or incendiary ammunition may be used on the club's ranges. No .50 BMG caliber or larger ammunition may be used without special approval by the Executive Committee (This does not prohibit the use of muzzle loading firearms of greater than .50 caliber.).

  9. Automatic weapons are permitted on the range provided all other rules are adhered to.

  10.  No “junk” targets shall be used (e.g., glass, cans, concrete blocks, etc.).

  11.  Rules of Safe Gun Handling MUST be observed at ALL times:

    1.  Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.

    2.  Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

    3.  Identify your target and what is beyond it.

    4.  Never point a firearm at anything you do not want to shoot.

    5.  Ensure the firearm and ammunition are in good working condition and that only the correct ammunition is used.

    6.  Always keep the action open except when preparing to shoot and always keep your finger out of the trigger guard until ready to  fire.

    7.  Abstain from alcohol and other drugs before and during shooting.

  12. Permanent or semi-permanent structures, including target stands, may NOT be erected on Club property without PRIOR APPROVAL by the Executive Committee.

  13.  All shooters are responsible for clean up of their area after shooting. Re-loadable brass should be taken with you or placed in the containers provided. Non-re-loadable casings should be placed in the trash containers. Do NOT put trash in the brass containers. .22 rimfire brass should be swept off the concrete apron or picked up (preferred and encouraged).

  14.  Do NOT put live rounds in the trash; place them only in the designated containers.

  15.  Replace targets, stands, plates, backers, etc., in the storage areas provided. Targets that are not reusable should be taken with you or placed in the trash. Do NOT overfill the trash containers.

  16.  Shooting hours at the range are 8:00 AM until sunset every day. After hours shooting may be allowed when approved by the Executive Committee.

  17.  Specific Range Rules for different shooting areas may be adopted by the Executive Committee. Such Specific Range Rules will be published in the newsletter and posted on the website and posted on the applicable ranges. Specific Range Rules will have the same force and effect as these General Range rules. In case of conflict, the Specific Range rules take precedence over these General Range rules. Obey all posted signs at the range.

  18.  For situation not otherwise covered in the rules, members and their guests are expected to use good judgment and common sense.

  19.  While using the range, all members must possess a valid SRRPC membership card and present this to any other member upon request. If any person does not comply with a request to identify themselves, for any reason, please report this immediately to a club officer, including the VEHICLE LICENSE TAG of the person, for further investigation. At any time while using the range, you may be required to confirm your identity with current photo identification by a member of the executive Committee.

  20.  LOCK THE GATE WHEN YOU ENTER AND LEAVE. The only exception to this is when the club is having a scheduled event.

  21.  ALL MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING THE CLUB RANGE RULES. If you see a violation of the rules, politely inform the person. If they do not comply, notify an Officer of the club.

  22.  FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH RANGE RULES MAY RESULT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST YOU BY THE SAVANNAH RIVER RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB UP TO AND INCLUDING SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM THE CLUB AS PROVIDED FOR IN THE BYLAWS.
